The Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter (MRUYP-LC), has officially reinstated three former members.

The trio were ‘expelled’ two years ago for “violations of the Parliament’s established rules.”

The decision to reinstate the affected officials marks a significant step towards reconciliation within the Parliament.

The 4th Speaker of the Parliament, Daniel Nama Nills, identified the restated officials as Kupee Sie Washington of Grand Kru County, J. Benedict S. Paye of Margibi County, and Preston A. Divis of Grand Gedeh County.

The trios were initially removed from their positions due to “serious infractions of both the Parliament’s statutes, and the laws of the Republic, specifically under Rule 39 of the Revised Statutes.”

Speaker Nills said, the move reflects the Parliament commitment to restorative justice. “The Plenary acknowledged the remorse expressed by the expelled members, and after extensive consultations with former parliamentarians, members voted to rescind their expulsion.”

This decision was made during an emergency sitting of the Plenary on Saturday, February 14, 2026, where members “unanimously supported the reinstatement of the three individuals.”

The formal endorsement of the decision was backed by the signatures of a majority of Parliament members, in accordance with Rule 39 (a).

“This reinstatement signifies our dedication to accountability, while also embracing the principles of restorative justice,” Nills stated.

“We believe that every member deserves a chance for redemption, and we look forward to their constructive re-engagement as we work together to uphold the values of our Parliament.”

The MRUYP-LC views this action as a vital step towards healing and fostering cooperation among its members.

The reinstated individuals are expected to actively participate in the Parliament’s mission, contributing positively to its goals and objectives.

As the MRUYP-LC moves forward, the Parliament remains focused on creating an inclusive environment where all members can thrive and work towards the betterment of their communities.
