The Office of the First Lady, said it has taken note of a “false, misleading and scandalous piece of information circulating in the Lott Carey Alumni chat room, and other informal platforms.”
The Office said, the information had “falsely linked Madam Kartumu Yarta Boakai, to a so-called company named “Fidelity Investment.”
The company is allegedly owned by FMR LLC, and headquartered in Boston, with claims that Mrs. Boakai is a shareholder in that entity.
“Let it be stated clearly, categorically, and without equivocation that this information is entirely false, malicious, and deliberately misleading.
At no time has the First Lady been involved with, invested in, discussed, or held any shareholding, real or imagined in any company by the name “Fidelity Investment” or any related entity. Any claim suggesting the existence of a shareholding certificate or financial interest attributed to the First Lady is a fabrication and should be treated as such.
This reckless dissemination of falsehoods by unscrupulous individuals and scammers-operating under the false pretense of being informants or affiliates of the Office of the First Lady-is condemnable in the strongest possible terms. Such actions are not only unethical, but constitute a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.
The Office of the First Lady strongly urges members of the public to exercise caution, reject unverified claims, and desist from amplifying misinformation. For verification of any official information, the public is encouraged to visit the Media and Communications Section of the Office of the First Lady at the Executive Mansion.
Additionally, all authentic updates, statements, and activities of the Office of the First Lady are published on our official Facebook page. Any information not originating from these official channels should be regarded as unofficial and unreliable.
The Office reserves the right to take appropriate action against individuals or entities found to be deliberately spreading false and defamatory information.”
