Bong County Senator Prince Moye, has donated two drums of fuel, amounting to 150 gallons, and US$500 to Phebe Hospital.
The donated fuel and money are to support Phebe Hospital’s upcoming surgical outreach program.
The program aims to save lives, and improve healthcare delivery in Bong County and beyond.
Sen. Moye’s Chief of Office Staff, Nuwoe Kellen, made the donation on behalf of the Senator.
Kellen said the gesture was part of Sen. Moye’s unwavering commitment to ensure Bong County healthcare system remains strong, functional and people-driven.
“Sen. Moye believes healthcare is not a luxury, but a right,” Kellen said.
For the reason, Sen. Moye said this donation is to ease Phebe’s logistical challenges, and ensure that no patient is left untreated.”
The donation, described as timely and life-changing, comes as the hospital prepares for a large-scale medical and surgical campaign.
The campaign is expected to bring together both Liberian and doctors from other countries to provide “free surgeries, and other medical services” to hundreds of residents battling various ailments.
President of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), Dr. Ayun K. Cassell received the donated item and cash.
Cassell praised Sen. Moye for his consistency and generosity to the hospital.
He described Moye’s intervention as “a rare example of leadership that listens and acts.”
The Phebe Surgical Outreach, expected to begin soon, will target hundreds of patients suffering from long-delayed medical conditions.
The campaign will offer “free” surgeries, consultations, and health screenings, especially for women, children and the elderly.
