Mulbah K. Morlue, lead campaigner for Wednesday, December 17, 2025, “Lead or Leave” protest, on Thursday, December 18, turned himself over to authorities at the Liberia National Police (LNP) for investigation.
Morlu’s surrender follows allegations that he and two others incited violence during the protest.
Meanwhile, the remaining two suspects, Alvin Wesseh and Archie Ponpom, have not been seen since Morlu’s arrived at the headquarters of the police in Monrovia.
He is currently undergoing investigation.
In a relation development,
LNP have identified Mulbah Morlu, Alvin Wesseh and Archie Pompom (all CDC partisans), as “persons of interest.”
The trio are wanted by police in relation to the violent incidents that characterized Wednesday’s December 17 ‘protest.’
Wesseh, an expelled student from the University of Liberia, served as Agriculture Assistant Minister during Mr. Weah regime; Morlu, then chaired the opposition Coalition of Democratic Change (CDC) until ‘liquor talk’ distanced him from Mr. Weah, while Pompon set himself on fire, because he claimed there were ‘salary delayed’ at the judiciary.
Police said, they have acted in line with their professional, evidence-based, and impartial investigation, to linked the three men.
The LNP has meanwhile, reiterated its commitment to facilitating lawful protests in a manner that protects public safety, and democratic freedoms.
The LNP however, strongly condemns the acts of violence that occurred during Wednesday’s protest, which police said, undermined public order, endangered lives and property, and diverted the protest from its lawful and peaceful purpose.
“Violence, intimidation, and destruction of property are inconsistent with democratic engagement, and will not be tolerated.”
As part of a professional, evidence-based, and impartial investigation, the LNP, has identified the trio as ‘persons of interest’ in relation to Wednesday’s violent incidents.
The LNP respectfully requests that these individuals report to the Central Police Headquarters in Monrovia to assist with the ongoing investigation.
“Failure to comply with this lawful request will compel the LNP to exercise its statutory authority to effect arrest, consistent with due process, and the laws of the Republic.”
The LNP reassures the public that the matter is being handled with restraint, proportionality, and respect for human rights, broader institutional commitment to accountability, transparency, and community trust.
The LNP calls on all citizens, organizers, and stakeholders to continue engaging peacefully and responsibly, especially during this festive season, as the police work to ensure a safe, secure, and stable environment for all.
