The Ministry of Public Works on Monday, March 23, 2026, signed US$1.7 million consultant services contract with an India company called LEA Associates.
The LEA Associates will provide consultancy services for key road development contract linking Toe Town, La Côte d’Ivoire border with Liberia, and Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
The move is toward national development and regional connectivity.
The contract, according to a release, is part of the Rural Economic Transformation Project (RETRAP) funded by the World Bank. It aims to develop La Cote d’Ivoire border to Toe Town to Zwedru section of the corridor.
At the signing ceremony in Monrovia, Public Works Minister, Roland Layfette Giddings, an engineer and project manager at the Ministry, Emmanuel Baker said, the project is expected to enhance cross border trade, ease transportation for local communities, and open new opportunities for commerce, agriculture, and investment.
The two men spoke of the necessity for government to deliver durable and inclusive development, while citizens remain hopeful that this long overdue initiative will finally bring tangible progress, connectivity, and economic revival to the region.
“This signing ceremony, captured a critical milestone in an effort to improve infrastructure in the Southeast, an area long challenged by limited road access and economic isolation.”
The team leader for LEA Associate, Rovi Urf Siran, lauded the Minister of Public Works and officials for their preferment, and to justify the confidence reposed in the LEA Associates to the best of their ability.
Meanwhile, Mr. Giddings, assured Mr. Siran, of the ministry readiness to cooperate with them throughout the full implementation until the completion of the key road development contract is completed.
