The Director of the Monrovia Tech Summit (MTS), Peter king, said, the entity is gearing up for its impactful edition, yet another milestone with power packed renowned local and international speakers.
As Liberia premier platform for technology, innovation, digital transformation, MTS event is expected to take place FROM April 23-24, 2025 in Monrovia.
King said the summit continues to bring together visionary leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers and tech enthusiasts to discuss and shape the digital progress in West Africa.
With the theme for 2025 focusing on: “Empowering Youth, Driving Innovation and Shaping Liberia’s Future: the (Artificial intelligence (AI) Revolution Age,” this fourth edition of the summit will feature heavyweight speakers from across Africa, Europe, North and startup innovators who have made significant strides in their respective field of studies.
Previous summit has been held in Margibi and Grand Bassa counties as a means to decentralize digital technology across the country
Mr. King, who made the statement on Thursday, April 17,2025. ahead of the summit, said the Monrovia Summit Tech is no longer an event, rather a movement now.
He said that over the past four years now, the summit has sparked critical conversations , inspired young entrepreneurs, and positioned Liberia as an emerging player in digital economy. The event will take into account speakers that will eventually address key challenges from AI standpoint, and cybersecurity to digital entrepreneurship and policy innovation.
According to Mr. King, MTS has been serving as a catalyst for tech growth by training over 2,000 youths in digital skills, shaping national tech policy and positioning Liberia in global tech conversation.
He said that despite these successes, the country is still lagging behind in key digital development indicators.
According to the ITU Digital Development Report, Liberia ranks among the lowest West African countries in internet penetration with only 12 percent of its workforce possessing digital skills ..a stark contrast to regional leaders like Ghana (45 percent) and Nigeria (55 percent).
