Authorities at the Ministry of Education (MoE), has announced the rollout of a Geo-Mapping monitoring and evaluation system. The system aims to strengthen school operations and enhance educational accountability.

This initiative marks a significant step to improve educational delivery and outcomes in Liberia, a country where challenges in educational supervision have long hindered effective learning.

At the launching ceremony, Education Minister Jarso Maley Jallah said, the modernized and digit Geo-Mapping System for Enhanced School Monitoring is estimated at US$300,000. It is designed to modernized and digitized system which is intended to serve all schools, including public, private, faith-based and community institutions.

The project is funded by the Public Sector Investment Project, as a new platform to track real-time data from schools, signifying a “new dawn” for education monitoring.

The initiative, Dr. Jallah said, represents a monumental advancement in how schools are supervised.  “With this innovative approach, we will no longer rely on fragmented information and manual reporting. Instead, we will harness real-time data to ensure adherence to national education standards and improve learning outcomes.”

Dr. Jallah added that the pilot phase will begin in Montserrado, River Cess, Sinoe, Bomi and Gbarpolu counties.

Developed by HAK Technology, the system is fully funded by the government through the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP).

The Geo-Mapping system will enable the collection, analysis, storage, and tracking of monitoring data directly from schools. Dr. Jallah noted that data will now be geolocated, meaning that school officials must input information directly on-site, ensuring accuracy and accountability. This feature will prevent erroneous data entry from external locations, thus providing a more reliable overview of school operations.

The monitoring system will focus on several critical areas, including classroom instruction, teacher attendance, and the quality of teaching materials relative to the curriculum.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jallah has urged the media and the public to remain engaged with the initiative.

She expressed confidence that this new Geo-Mapping system will significantly bolster school management and improve learning outcomes for students throughout the country.
