As education is described as the bedrock to nation building, many Liberians have also decided to buttress government’s efforts by investing into the educational sector to ensure that every Liberian gets quality education they deserve. In this like, a newly established university, the Modern University College which accordingly has been existing for years granting certificate and associate degrees, has finally obtained a full fledge degree status. The revelation was made over the weekend by the Chairman of the University Board, Rev. Jomah Woiwor during conclusion of its Students Orientation for academic 2024/2025 at the university campus in Zubah Town, Paynesville, outside Monrovia.  He narrated that the Modern University College was established few years back to  meet the educational  needs of Liberians by creating an  environment in which students can obtain varieties of goals with outstanding faculty and staff in their specialized fields of studies with industrial experience, and also maintaining a high standard of integrity, honesty and performance leading to the achievement of academic and career goal  such as  quality educational services and programs based on international standards and best practices with equipment and hand- on experience. Also giving the overview of the Program, the Board Chair said the university was a dream  that started few years ago with the so purpose of helping National Government to  provide  quality education through reforms and better learning environment for the students of Liberia. Rev. Woiwor also told the gathering that  their venture  into the educational area was also to  help educate  the general  public with some of the best programs in Liberia stating that the university first started  with the granting of  certificate  and associate degree but maintained that through  their collective efforts, the university administrative staffs, they were able to be granted a full fledge degree status which according to him, will be offered to candidates  in the following  Departments, Education, Hospital Administration, Gender Studies, Allied  Sciences ,Business and information  Technology. ” We met all of the requirements  of the National Commission on Higher education  and we are among the 18 top University  in Liberia and this was done through the efforts  of all of the faculty and staff of this great Institution and I  believe  that if the institutions and students can hold these values,  the Education sectors will be better  someday,” Rev. Woiwor  said.  Also speaking, the Assistant Representatives of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Thelma Dhan Debrah, said it is important for students to take their education serious and also be accountable for whatever they go through while perusing their university education. Madam  Debrah  said integrity and transparency  are key pillars stating that students should be able to build their educational  curriculum on what they learn; meaning that it will lead them into the job market. Integrity or transparency is important  to  any students because  after you  have completed  your higher  education you will go into the larger society and whatever  you practices will rest on your shoulder and your journey which starts now after completing your search for higher education, you will be judged by these simple steps, integrity and transparency. The FAO Assistant Representatives for Administration at the same time called on students to take computer knowledge serious, citing that after graduation, there will be opportunities through the job market  that will require  basic computer knowledge.
