The Youth Chairman of Mechlin and Randall Streets Community put smiles on the faces of children by organizing a Christmas Party which brought together more than 50 children in the community and surrounding communities.
Chairman Mohammed Bah said the party was intended to identify with children in the community as they geared up to celebrate 2025 Christmas.
He noted that as local leaders, it is good to share with children in the communities when celebrating such event like Christmas Day to ensure that children are part of their communities’ developments.
According to him, it is unfortunate that their Representative Emmanuel Dahn of Electoral District #7 in Montserrado County could not identify or share with the children in District #7 but went to Ghana to celebrate Christmas and abandoned the people and district during the festival season.
He alleged that Representative Dahn has yet made report to the District #7 since taking over the district in 2024.
Chairman Bah stressed that upon his return from Ghana, he should give the report of the district for his representation of the people in the Legislature for the 2025, adding that the people should hear from their lawmaker.
He further noted that Representative Dahn when was seeking the seat of District #7, he use to organize children party to claim the attention of the people but now the youth and children have been neglected adding, “This is embarrassing for young politicians in Liberia.”
He maintained that the young and children in the Mechlin and Randall Streets Community need help to improve their education and without assistance from the lawmakers and businesses operating in the community; as part their social corporate responsibilities, the youth will find it difficult to realize their dreams in life.
Chairman Bah explained that businesses operating on Mechlin and Randall Streets should assist the central government to empower the young people in the community with needed skills and education for transformation and the community at large.
He observed that more of the businesses operating on Mechlin and Randall Streets Community are not contributing their social corporate responsibilities to the community, which he claimed is undermining the laws of Liberia.
According to him, it is now time for central government to enforce the law on social corporate responsibility of businesses operating in communities across the country.
Chairman Bah emphasized that if Liberia should be a transformative nation, the laws on the book should be enforced at all levels to ensure that developments are realized in the country.
