MCP Benefits From NFAA’s Donation By Godgift Harris

The National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) has officially launched a nationwide humanitarian initiative with a major donation of food and non-food items to inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP),

This initiative signifies the start of a broader campaign to reach vulnerable populations across the country.

The disclosure was made during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

NFAA Director General Boakai Sirleaf, outlined the agency’s plan to decentralize food distribution efforts throughout the country.

“This initiative is just the beginning,” said Sirleaf. “We are committed to reaching other regions of the country, especially areas where the need is critical.

With strong collaboration from development partners and government’s support, we can realize this national goal.”

The donation included a range of essential supplies aimed at alleviating pressure on the country’s overburdened correctional system.

According to Mr. Sirleaf, the initiative is grounded in the agency’s mission to respond to humanitarian needs despite financial constraints.

He said the agency’s initial budget was a modest US$1,024, primarily covering salaries.

NFAA’s latest move came as a critical player in the country’s humanitarian response landscape, with plans already underway to extend similar aid to other institutions and vulnerable populations nationwide.
