The social media and gossip spots were a buzz yesterday with a revelation to the local media by former Presidential candidate and currently, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s political advisor MacDella Cooper openly admitting that she is the spouse of House Speaker Richard Koon.
“I am the Spouse of the Speaker” MacDella confirmed rumors of being the Spouse of Koon. ” . . . I am the Spouse of the Speaker.” Thus officially authenticating talks in the political circle.
Having confirmed her affairs with Koon, MacDella, now becomes the latest “big Jue” in government. She is the former presidential hopeful, and head of the women group, Movement for One Liberia (MOL).
Political watchers are divided on evaluating this new spousal relationship, with one terming it as “the rescue couple” playing on the UP styled name referring to important personalities that brought them to power; rescue uncle, rescue baby, rescue aunty and now rescue couple.
Others said they’re taken aback because they were under the impression that the both of them were still martially obligated to their spouses.
It has been rumored that the two have been seeing each other for quite a while now. She has also been seen in the company of the speaker at several public and private locations.
It can be recalled that a woman who claimed to have been a long time friend of MacDella, Sajo Juwara, accused her of stealing her man, Alioune Kebe, an allegation MacDella has since dismissed. MacDella is on record as saying that her husband, Alioune Kebe, a Senegalese, had never been married before in any part of the world.
MacDella described the claim as a miscalculated myth from her ‘opponents.’
But recently, Madam Sajo Juwara, claimed via live talk show in the country that “her best friend MacDella Cooper took her man, Alioune Kebe, a former soccer star.
While explaining her nightmare to Voice of Liberia radio recently, Madam Sajo Juwara said, MacDella convinced her in divorcing Alioune after some family challenges.
“But within a year, the women’s advocate announced Kebe as her man during their one-year anniversary.”
With the revelation of the Koon, Cooper’s spousal relationship, pundits are wondering whether this will create any tension for the executive.
