LSA New HQ Commissioned

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, on Thursday, February 19, officially launched and dedicated the newly constructed headquarters of the Liberia Standards Authority (LSA).

Boakai, according to a release, described the milestone as a major step toward strengthening economic transformation.

The commissioning ceremony was held at the Ministry of Public Works on UN Drive.

Pres. Boakai said, the standards are the backbone of a strong and competitive economy.

The commissioning of the new facility is expected to empower the Authority enhance regulation and enforcement; ensure product safety, and protect consumers from dangerous; counterfeit and low-quality imports.

Pres. Boakai said, the institution will also standardize Liberian products across the value chain, making them more competitive in regional and international markets, including under commitments to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

He meanwhile, thanked the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), for their “continued partnerships and supports.”

Such collaboration, Boakai said, reinforces Liberia’s path toward sustainable development.

He encouraged farmers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and innovators to view the Standards Authority as a partner in progress.

He added: “As standards rise, opportunities expand, and when opportunities expand, the country.”

Pres. Boakai meanwhile, officially reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to build strong institutions and advance national development.
