Police officers assigned in the township of Louisiana; rural Montserrado County have been promised a new depot with computerize offices.
Already, the construction work has begun taking shape following a groundbreaking ceremony a month ago in the township.
Ahead of the project completion, a renowned resident of the township has described the construction of the new depot as ‘’significant and timely.’’
The director of security of Integrity Kapao Secure Liberia, Henry Kpanah Roberts, said the project is significant, “because residents are so much at risk with increase in criminal activities.”
This, Roberts said, are evidence by the frequent movements of some of the locals to other distant districts to complain/report about crimes being committed in the area; a situation that has occurred over the years.
He told The InProfile Daily in an exclusive interview that the ongoing development is welcoming to reduce the high level of insecurity for the locals.
“The lack of security presence in the area has been a challenge in containing the constant waves of crimes and violence activities in the township.
The project was initiated by Montserrado County District #1 Representative, Rugie Barry. It is implemented by the township through the Office of Commissioner Moses White.
Mr. Roberts, who described security as paramount to protecting lives and properties, said his private security guard Service, the ‘Kapao,’ aims to boost the efforts of national security.
Members of the infamous Kapao are working along with the officers of the Liberia National Police to combat and prevent crimes in spite of the challenges to urgently respond to emerging crisis of security concerns.
“Security is paramount; it is everybody’s business. It has always been a difficult thing most especially at night. When we are calling on the police for emergency response from the ‘Zone 7 Depot One’ it takes long for the officers to come to our calls because of this age-old ‘no vehicle’ syndrome.
Louisiana is a distance from Samuka Town in Caldwell where officers are assigned to respond to emergency.
In time past, suspected criminals have reportedly burglarized the Town Hall and the government public school from where they allegedly stole chairs and a flat screen television that was serving guests’ entertainment and educational purposes. Due to the prevalent burglaries in the township and wanton theft of properties, residents arrived at the unanimous decision to construct the police depot in the township.
