Lofa Lawmakers On Jobs’ Creation Drive By: Feona Benson Kollie

As part of efforts to create more job opportunities for the people of Lofa County, Lofa  District 2 Lawmaker,  Julie Fatorma Wiah, Monday, 16 September, presented  to the plenary of the House of Representatives, three proposed bills- AN ACT CREATING THE TOWNSHIP OF KAMATAHUN AND PROVIDE FOR THE GOVERNANCE OF SAME WITHIN WANHASSA DISTRICT IN LOFA COUNTY, REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA; AN ACT TO CREATE MASSABOLAHUN TOWNSHIP WITHIN WANHASSA ADMINISTRATIVE DISTRICT, LOFA COUNTY, REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA; and, AN ACT TO CREATE LENBAGBA TOWNSHIP WITHIN TENGIA ADMINISTRATIVE DISTRICT.

Speaking Monday at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, Rep. Wiah said after several consultations and meetings with her constituents, who accordingly petitioned them as lawmakers of Lofa County, she decided to ensure that the following bills be passed and enacted into law for the so purpose of political and social-economic developments of county.

Rep. Wiah further explained that it was upon this backdrop that she has also decided to seek the indulgence of the plenary of the House of Representatives, to enact into law the above Acts for the smooth governance of those areas as the bills will create job opportunities for the citizens of Lofa County.

She added that besides the benefits in terms of resources that will be accrued by the government when these areas are established; there will also be the rules of law that will also enable the government to function properly for the betterment of the country.

Meanwhile,  the communication was sent to the relevant committees- Judiciary, Internal Affairs and Ways , Means and Finance to report within a week through a motion made by Grand Bassa County District 5 Representative, Thomas Gosauh.
