The Liberia National Police (LNP), has confirmed investigating one of its senior officers on allegation of “attempted rape” of a 13-year girl.
The accused officer is assigned to the Grand Bassa County Police Detachment.
LNP said in a release that the allegation was formally reported on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, through the Professional Standards Department (PSD) and the Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS) in the county.
The release further indicated that upon receipt of the complaint, LNP immediately initiated both administrative and criminal investigative procedures in accordance with established laws, regulations, and internal accountability standards.
“The officer concerned is currently subject to internal administrative review pending the outcome of the investigation. A preliminary investigation is underway to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the allegation. The identity of the complainant is being withheld in keeping with legal and victim-protection standards.”
On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, dramatic outrage spread through parts of Buchanan City, Grand Bassa, after residents blocked a police officer accused of rape from leaving a public area, as seen in videos footage circulating on Facebook.
In the footage, a group of angry residents are seen surrounding and preventing Officer Alex T. Flampor, from moving his vehicle as they demanded answers in connection with the alleged assault of a teenager.
The situation escalated as onlookers expressed frustration and called for justice.
In another video, the alleged victim appeared visibly distressed and unable to walk on her own. Bystanders are seen carrying the teenager as they rush her toward the Government Hospital for immediate medical attention.
In the videos, according to those that helped the victim, the victim told them that she was raped by the senior police officer in a hotel (not named), after he discovered that she was unconscious due to the intense sexual intercourse, he escaped the scene.
They further added that when she gained consciousness and a little bit of strength, she decided to go home, but while on her way, she collapsed, something which prompted their intervention and disclosure of the full story.
“To admit, this officer loves small, small children, I mean teenagers. The highest age this man can have intercourse with are 17 years. We are not surprised, but we want government to ensure that he is punished for this. This is complete wickedness. He has his family in Monrovia, but here he is damaging our girls,” some of the residents remarked.
Meanwhile, LNP has further said, the allegation remains under investigation and that the officer is presumed innocent unless and until proven otherwise by a court of competent jurisdiction.
“The LNP maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, particularly in matters involving Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), abuse of authority, or violations of human rights. Any officer found to have engaged in criminal, unethical, or SGBV-related conduct will face the full weight of the law in addition to internal disciplinary measures.”
