LNP Investigates Nancy Musu Kiatamba’s Death …Police Arrested, Detained, Released Her

Officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) said, they are currently conducting an investigation into circumstances surrounding the arrest, release and subsequent death of Ms. Nancy Musu Kiatamba, a resident of Vai Town, Old Road Community.

Initial reports indicate that Ms. Kiatamba was apprehended and detained on May 9, 2025, by police Inspector Saywon T. Wulah of Zone 3 Depot 1, following an alleged verbal altercation with Ms. Kiatamba.

Officer Wulah has acted as the complainant, the judge and subsequently rendered judgement to detain the lady and later release her.

She was subsequently released on the same day, but according to the report, on May 14, 2025, the LNP received a formal complaint from Ms. Moimeh Thomas, Ms. Kiatamba’s guardian, confirming her death. Madam Thomas alleged that the lady’s death was a result of an assault perpetrated by the police officer involved.

In response, Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, reportedly ordered an immediate administrative investigation. The investigation was led by the LNP Professional Standards Department.

It was based on preliminary findings that Inspector Wulah was recommended for interdiction in accordance with LNP regulations.

Furthermore, a release said, IGP Coleman requested a forensic autopsy to scientifically determine the cause of the lady’s death.

The LNP, trough the release, reiterates its commitment to due process and assures the public that this matter is being handled with strict adherence to established Police Administrative Instructions.

“The outcome of the ongoing investigation, along with the results of the requested forensic autopsy, will guide any subsequent administrative measures or potential criminal proceedings, as deemed appropriate under the law.
