The Liberia National Police (LNP) strongly condemns the deliberate spread of false and misleading information on social media platforms, specifically the defamatory post on Facebook page “HottFm 107.9 Liberia.”
The post, according to a release, authored by Randall George and captioned, “UNCOVERED!!! Police IG Coleman Holds Secret Meeting with Self-Styled Majority Bloc Leadership to Indict Embattled Speaker Koffa in the Capitol Building Fire Incident.”
The LNP release described the post as
“false, defamatory and a blatant attempt to mislead the public and tarnish the reputation of the Police force.”
According to the release, IGP Coleman attended a meeting at the Capitol Building on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10 a.m., following an official invitation from the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mildred N. Sayon.
“This meeting was convened to address a complaint filed by Maryland County District #2 Representative regarding an encounter with Deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations, Cllr. J. Nelson Freeman and Officer Melvin Gray.”
The release said that the IGP, along with the named officers, attended the meeting in good faith and thereafter returned to their respective offices.
The allegations suggesting a “secret meeting” to indict Speaker Koffa are entirely unfounded and malicious. The LNP has obtained a screenshot of the now-deleted Facebook post and will include it alongside the official letter of invitation from the Clerk of the House of Representatives as evidence to refute these claims.
The LNP said it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
“We urge the public to disregard these false narratives and rely on verified information from credible sources. The LNP will continue to serve the people of Liberia with integrity and professionalism.”
