LMA President Urges Liberians To Support Liberia’s UN Security Council Bid

The President of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA), Madam Elizabeth Finda Kemoh Sambolah, called on all Liberians to rally behind the country’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Speaking on Monday February 10, 2025 at  the Centennial Pavilion on Ashmun Street during the local launch of Liberia’s bid on the United Nations Security Council. Madam Sambolah emphasized the importance of this initiative for national development.  She urged citizens at home and abroad to support the bid as a collective national goal rather than a political issue. “We need to protect our heritage as a nation, we have remained outside for too long and it is time to regain our status by securing a seat on the United Nations Security Council,” she stated. Madam Sambolah highlighted the potential benefits of Liberia’s inclusion on the council, including increased foreign investment, economic growth, and job creation. She stressed that the country’s global standing would improve significantly if it secures the seat. “This is not about county flags or political affiliations; this is about the national flag of the Republic of Liberia, very Liberian must stand up and support this bid,” she declared. She encouraged citizens to use prayers, social media, and advocacy efforts to generate international support for Liberia’s candidacy, emphasizing the need for unity and patriotism. According to Madam Sambolah, Liberia’s presence on the UNSC would bring substantial economic benefits, including advancements in agriculture, road construction, tourism and electricity. “We must continue to show our commitment as a people. Liberia is our home, and we must all contribute to its progress,” she urged. Liberia’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council is part of the country’s broader efforts to play a more active role in global decision-making and international peacekeeping.
