As the Liberia National Truckers Union (LiNTU) leadership elections for a three -team of office draws nearer, Team Omaru Fofana, under the banner of Movement for the Transformation of Liberian Truckers on Friday, April 25,2025 had its pre-campaign launch along the Japan Freeway in Monrovia in grand style which began with a parade graced by supporters, eligible voters and well-wishers, and characterized by musical performances by a visiting Guinean celebrity, Kante Boss and a Liberian Mandingo music star whose name was not readily obtained by this writer. The LiNTU election, this media outlet has gathered, is slated for May 3rd,2025 in Monrovia, with at least over 500 certified and registered electorates, according to an official roster being released by an ad hoc election body are expected to cast their ballots during the polls.
Accordingly, the Movement for the Transformation of Liberian Truckers is said to be fielding in the up-coming LiNTU’s polls Mr. Omaru A. Fofana, as its Presidential candidate; Abraham B. Mulbah, Vice Presidential candidate and Yahaya S. Kemokai, Candidate for the post of Secretary General. Other candidates on the ticket of the Movement for the Transformation of Liberian Truckers include Madam Fatu S. Lamin, candidate for the position of Treasurer; Hassan Konneh, candidate for the portfolio of Operation Manager and James Z. Kessely as candidate for the post of Deputy for Operations. Outlining the Movement for the Transformation of Liberian Truckers’ manifesto, when It becomes the victor in the forthcoming LiNTU leadership polls, Omaru A. Fofana vowed to bring about total transformation to the union alongside his coworkers to better the lives of operators, conductors, trucks owners including valued customers who will perform well in a year’s time.
Fofana did not stop there, he underscored that safety, respect, unity, accountability, transparency, team work, tax compliance, loyalty, integrity, dependability and competency as well as achievement would be the hallmark of his leadership traits when the movement becomes victorious in the May 3rd elections.
The Movement for the Transformation of Liberian Truckers presidential candidate who’s being considered as a formidable candidate for the LiNTU presidency by his supporters, electorates and admirers in the pending race, said when elected his administration will ensure that the Liberianization Policy of enacted into handbill by the Government of Liberia is protected and enforced for the benefit of LiNTU. “The rights, benefits of LiNTU members and partners would be respected in keeping with the by-laws of the union yea the Liberian Constitution,” stressed Mr. Fofana, adding “We will also provide local and international training our members to be on pad with others in the Mano River Union(MRU).” He promised in his pre-campaign launch to lobby with the government through the Ministries of Transport and Commerce and the National Port Authority(NPA) Management for the opening of a cross border transport system wherein LiNTU members tracks will travel to neighboring country to boost trade and commerce. Fofana then spoke of plans under his administration to erect a permanent packing lot for LiNTU trucks as well as set up a health care fund the union will provide medical assistance to all members.
He further noted that the 24 hours’ emergency respond team will be established under his leadership, for the benefit of all trucks owners throughout the Republic of Liberia. On ties between the LiNTU, Monrovia Seaport Police(MSP) and Liberia National Police(LNP), Fofana decried that same has not been too cordial in time passed, but added that under his administration, he will ensure that such relationship would be further cemented in good faith. Meanwhile, Ansu O, Bamba, Public Relations Officer(PRO) to the Movement for the Transformation of Liberian Truckers presidential candidate, in remarks during the movement’s pre-campaign launch, entreated members of LiNTU to vote Omaru A. Fofana as their next leader for the vibrancy of the union. He assured LiNTU membership that under the Fofana’s leadership, their livelihoods will get much better as was not the case over the years under the past administration.
