Liberty Party Calls For Peace

In the aftermath of the crisis that has engulfed the House of Representatives (HoR), the opposition Liberty Party (LP) has called for peaceful resolution and respect for the rule of law

The Liberty Party, in a strongly worded statement, called on all political actors to respect the rule of law and pursue a peaceful resolution to the ongoing leadership impasse at the HoR.

The party expressed deep concern over the six-month-long crisis, which it argues has distracted from national governance and hindered the country’s development, particularly as the administration of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai strives to restore the country’s image and provide essential services to its citizens.

“The paralysis in one branch of government, as we are witnessing at the HoR, threatens the principle of coordination laid out in our Constitution and stifles national progress,” said Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the party’s political leader.

While the party commended Pres. Boakai for acknowledging the Supreme Court’s decision in the matter, it called for calm as the judicial process unfolds, urging all parties to allow the Court to reach a fair conclusion.

The Liberty Party also emphasized the need for both sides in the House leadership conflict to prioritize the interests of the Liberian people, with mediation seen as the best path forward.

“Attempts to exploit this unfortunate impasse for political gain must be firmly condemned,” the party stated, reinforcing its commitment to democratic principles and the peaceful resolution of the crisis. By: Wroinbee Elton Tiah
