The Liberia National Police (LNP) has begun investigation into J. Rap, a Liberian young rapper, after reports that he recorded music referencing “morally wrong” lyrics in his new song tagged ‘Woman Can Grow’ featuring Barsee, which depicts a pedophilic meaning.
The rapper, according to the police, has confessed to wrong recording, but LNP investigations continues.
“We are aware of this content and are investigating it as a priority, “We take any content that could glorify insults or distress victims extremely,” police said in a statement.
Pedophile is defined as a sexual perversion in which an adult or adolescent experience a primary sexual attraction to underage children.
For the past few days, after receiving several complaints from prominent figures in the country over the J. Rap’s “Woman Can Grow,” LNP Inspector General Greg Coleman said, investigators will begin to follow lead to track down the young rapper song from streaming services which recently surfaced on the social media.
Gregory Coleman in a recent radio interview, explained that the record has a negative reflection on the country’s culture values, thus affecting the upbringing of teenagers in the Liberian society.
Coleman expressed serious concern following the growing wave of ‘Explicit Lyrics’ in some past and recent circular Liberian songs.
He said this action shows total representation of what he could possibly be involved with and that is why he launched an investigation, “because there could also be another possibility that the song has a difference in perspective of what the artist actually communicated.”
But Coleman said there are also many artists that are finding pleasure in religiously using offensive languages in their songs.
According to the report, on April 5, 2025, J. Rap uploaded the music on audio mick and other digital platforms with lyrics such as “Woman Can Grow oo, Just Like Tamba Popo, All The Children Them Futt, futt, I Can Play With 13- year old girls them like I checking US.”
IG Coleman argued that the particular lyric detailed the rapper alleged behavior, and that this information has not been released to the public, which further validates the start results of the LNP investigation, including the song title which is “Woman can Grow.”
Reports from blogs claim J. Rap is 22, a hipco artist whose music often features violent themes and who conceals his real identity on the social media.
Guitar, a civil right artist and CEO of “Rich Entertainment,” said that “other young promising rap artsts had only just learned of the extent of the song”
He added: ” We are a bit shocked, we are just taking it in. How can someone be allowed to play this kind of music? The words are absolutely horrendous.”
Several songs by multiple Liberian artists including Kpanto, Mr. Monrovia and Barsee, have been played on the Kool 91.9 WeekendXlusive Entertainment Show, clubs and even communities, although not those with the apparent reference to Pedophile.
The family of the alleged Rapper are yet address the issue, but police say their investigation is active and ongoing. Odarty Blackie/knewsonline.com
