‘Liberian Citizens Are Beggars’ -Senator Konneh Observes

Gbarpolu County Senator Amara Konneh said because of constant visitation from Liberians seeking assistance, senators are unable to focus and do their Jobs.  He noted that due to frequent distractions from unexpected visitors who mostly come around to beg for assistance, it is challenging to focus and read through draft Legislations.  He writes: “We’ve been recalled from our regular recess to recast a budget projected to miss revenue targets. But the trouble is working in our Capitol Building Offices can be quite demanding due to frequent distractions from unexpected visitors. Senators often find it challenging to focus on reading reports or drafting legislation as numerous visitors seeking personal assistance disrupt them. To ease the tension and escape those “unexpected” assistance seekers, Senator Konneh said: “The Plenary Chamber serves as a sanctuary from external interruptions.”
