In a significant stride towards enhancing connectivity and infrastructure, Liberia is on the verge of fully implementing the West Africa Regional Digital Integration Project, early 2026 which will enhance connectivity and infrastructure development.
Making the disclosure, Assistant Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Nicholas Johnson, said the initiative aimed at elevating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the every sector. “We are on the verge of fully implementing the West Africa Regional Digital Integration Project, which will enhance connectivity and infrastructure.
Johnson however expressed optimism for the future, asserting that the Ministry is poised to achieve even greater milestones by 2026. He stressed the importance of technology in addressing various societal challenges, such as enhancing agricultural productivity, healthcare, and educational access through digital platforms.
Johnson’s therefore, addressed the pressing need for digital payment solutions, as strides being made in Liberia’s digital landscape as it mitigated safety risks associated with carrying cash. “Digital payment platforms will not only protect our citizens but also streamline access to essential services.
He, however, lauded the transformative power of technology; stating, “We are living in a digital age, and there is nothing more crucial today than embracing technology for the growth and development of Liberia.
“We encouraged collaboration across sectors to harness the potential of ICT for national progress.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications continues to focus on digital transformation, aiming to provide accessible government services and enhance the quality of life for all Liberians,” he added.
Johnson’s made the disclosure at his recognition program by a Group under the Banner Excellent Media Incorporated for his unwavering dedication to public service and contributions to the digital transformation of Liberia, held at the Ministry on Thursday, January, 8, 2026.
