Legislative Journal Reintroduced

The House of Representatives has reintroduced the production and distribution of the Legislative Journal, which covers activities and proceedings of its daily sittings.

The Legislative Journal is prepared by the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, and reviewed by the Chief Clerk prior to distribution to members of the House during the next day’s sitting.

The initiative is intended to keep lawmakers informed about proceedings, decisions, and actions taken during previous sittings.

The reintroduction of the journal saw the Office of the Chief Clerk, on Tuesday, during the 5th Day Sitting, distribute two separate editions of the Legislative Journal.

These included the journal covering the 2nd Day Sitting of the 2nd Quarter of the 3rd Session held on May 12, 2026, as well as the journal covering the 5th Day Sitting of the Extraordinary Session of the 3rd Quarter held on April 16, 2026.

Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon believes the reform initiative forms part of efforts to modernize and strengthen parliamentary operations by ensuring transparency, institutional record-keeping, and effective legislative communication among members of the House.

Koon further said, to maintain updated parliamentary records was essential to promote accountability, continuity, and informed legislative decision-making within the First Branch of Government.
