LEC Management Summoned By Fiona Benson Kollie

The leadership of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday, May, 29, summoned Liberia Electricity Cooperation (LEC) management to appear on Monday, June 3, to respond to claim made by River Gee County District #2 Representatives, Isaac B. Choloplay Wuo.

Wuo has complained on the entity’s ineffectiveness in his district.

In his communication to plenary, Rep. Wuo said, he was speaking on behalf of his district #2,

 Wuo: “I kindly request the indulgence of the plenary to invite LEC management to appear before this august body to give reason why the county has been without electricity since February this year?”

He said the situation has severely affected the daily lives of residents, including businesses, schools and health facilities.

“The situation,” Wuo said: “is deeply troubling.”

According to him, the situation is very troubling while counties like Maryland and Gedeh-continue to benefit from uninterrupted power supply, but River Gee remains in perpetual darkness without any explanation from relevant authorities.

He told plenary that the issue of none functional electricity poses serious health and security threats to the lives of the locals.

Wuo pleaded with the plenary to invite the LEC management to show cause why the prolonged power outage in the county.

Meanwhile, a decision was reached, mandating the LEC management to appear before the leadership on Monday, June 3, to answer to the lawmaker’s inquiry.
