The Monrovia City Court has issued a writ of arrest for Abass Debies, a Lebanese national.
Defendant Abass is being charged for “theft of property.”
His writ is based upon the oath and complaint of the Republic of Liberia by and through Andrew D. Passawe.
Passawe has complained that sometimes in August, 2022, and up to present, defendant Abass received from him the amount of US$128,480 for a contract, which he (Passawe) should have received five percent amounting to US$6,424.
According to the writ, a copy of which is in the possession of In Profile newspaper, defendant Abass, “having received the said amount since then, failed, refused and neglected to pay the five percent , thus, exercising unauthorized control over same with the intent of depriving Passawe of his hard earned money.”
Meanwhile, Abass has on two different occasions, informed this newspaper; first that, the case has long since been disposed of, though he failed to provide further prove of any disposal paper when asked to do so.
On the second instance, Abass branded the complainant as a “crook,” adding: “My friend, the case is before court, and therefore, I cannot discuss it in a newspaper.”
