LDEA Launches Central Monrovia Office …Takes Custody Of 2 Suspected Females

To further comb Monrovia and its environs, thereby making them drug-free communities, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has launched an office edifice at the Old Europe Bank Building, Crown Hill, Central Monrovia.

On the theme: “Minimizing Drugs in Central Monrovia and its Environs,” the official launch of the offices was held on0 Friday, May 2, 2025.

LDEA Director-General, Anthony K. Souh, said the official launched of the agency new Central Monrovia office-Detail, marked a major step in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the capital and its surrounding areas.

Agent Folley A. Mullah, will accordingly, man the new detail. Mulbah will be deputized by Emmanuel G. Momo, while agent S. Jesse Montgomery will be in charge of the Operations

The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sekou Kromah, served as the keynote speaker.

Kromah praised Mr. Souh and his LDEA team for their “foresight.”

He pledged the ministry’s support, including equipping the office with internet infrastructure to enhance communication and operations.

Kromah then reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the national drug emergency, which President Joseph Nyuma Boakai declared in 2024, emphasizing the collective responsibility of officials to aid in the fight.

In remarks, LDEA Deputy Director for Administration, Gwee K. Porkpah, commended the leadership of the Central Monrovia Detail for their initiative.

Porkpah said the reformed at the agency will streamline the operational activities in a more structured and accountable system, focusing on lawful conduct and effective enforcement.

Montserrado County District #8 Representative, Prince Toles, pledged his full support to the agency’s efforts.

Toles committed to securing an operational vehicle to assist with patrols and ensure safer communities.

The ceremony brought together

High-level dignitaries including Judge Jomah Jallah (West Point Court), Liberia National Police Officials, among them were the Deputy Commissioner Christopher Roberts (Unit 112), Assistant Commissioner Alex J. Wyne (Unit 190), Chief Superintendent Enuah B. Johnson (Zone 2 Base Commander), Colonel A. Alphanso Paypay, Director of Monrovia City Police, Commander Ezerttor Martin (West Point, LIS), Liberia National Fire Service.

Others were representative from the Liberia National Red Cross Society and some community leaders (Sonniwein Community.)

According to the LDEA, joint security forces and assisted by the Monrovia City Police played a critical role in securing the new facility. Community chairpersons across Central Monrovia, meanwhile, assured the agency of their commitment to work with the LDEA. They then encouraged residents to report illegal drug activities.

LDEA In Webbo

In a related development, Liberia, the LDEA took into custody two Liberian nationals, identified as Patience Nagbeh (22) and Haja Tuore (48), following their official turnover by the Webbo Magistrate Court on May 1, 2025.

The case unfolded after the Liberia National Police (LNP) Webbo detail presented both suspects to the court over a reported debt of L$20,000.

During the hearing, Patience Nagbeh dramatically admitted to owing the amount, but said it was tied to an illegal drug transaction, which complainant Haja Tuore had given her (heroin) to sell, but did not sell all the drugs.

The court, upon the magistrate’s instruction, ordered Patience to return the remaining substances.

“Upon receiving these substances, the magistrate immediately contacted the LDEA and turned both suspects over for further investigation,” a release said.

During which time it was uncovered that suspect Haja had allegedly given suspect Patience 80 wraps of heroin with an estimated street value of L$20,000.

Further findings revealed that suspect Haja Tuore has a history of drug-related encounters with the LDEA in River Gee County (2023) and Maryland County (2024).

Both suspects have been formally charged under Sections 14.85 and 14.89 of the Controlled Substances Act for unlicensed sale and possession of narcotics.

They were forwarded to court for prosecution on May 5, 2025.

The LDEA, says it remains committed to combating illegal drug activity and calls on the public to support this effort by reporting any drug-related information to the LDEA Hotline at 0777133333.

“All reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” the release assured.
