A team of Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) officers led by the Saclepea Detail Commander intercepted two individuals during routine patrol operations in the city, Nimba County.
Suspects Junior Beyan, 16, and Francis Wonyoun, 22, both Liberian nationals, were caught in the act of transacting marijuana in plain view and were immediately arrested.
LDEA agents have meanwhile, confiscated 254 wraps of compressed marijuana, with an estimated street value of L$38,100 from the suspects.
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be formally charged and forwarded to court in accordance with the law.
LDEA River Gee County Detachment
On May 15, 2025, LDEA officers assigned at the River Gee County Detachment arrested a 22-year-old Matharline Doe, a Liberian national and resident of Maryland County at the Webbo Checkpoint for possessing illegal narcotics.
The agents seized from the suspect 470 wraps of marijuana, half plastic of assorted marijuana, and seven scripts of tramadol.
The total estimated street value of the seized substances is approximately L$67,640 or US$356.
Suspect Matharline Doe, has meanwhile been turned over to the investigation section for further questioning. She will be forwarded to court for trial in accordance with due legal process.
In a related development, a team from the agency, officers led by the county chief of operations, in collaboration with two sheriffs from the Sanniquellie City Magisterial Court, executed a Search and Seizure Warrant in Gbedin Town, Camp 3, District #2, Nimba County.
During the operation, a release said, two suspects were arrested for ‘unlawful possession of marijuana.’
Aaron Gokpeh, 35, Liberian national, was arrested in Gbedin Camp #3 with 69 wraps of marijuana, valued at L$6,900.
Ophelia Saye Kerkula, 38, Liberian national, was arrested in Gbedin Town with 69 wraps of marijuana, 1 kg of marijuana and 1 bottle of marijuana mixed with Caine juice, with an estimated street value of L$29,575.
Both individuals are currently under investigation and will be forwarded to court in accordance with the law.
