The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) has unveiled a major staff retirement and restructuring plan set to begin early July 2025.

In a release published on Friday, June 28, 2025, the LAA clarified that the plan, which includes reshuffle, retirement and rightsizing among others, is not intended to witch-hunt any staff but aimed at streamlining its operations and boosting institutional effectiveness.

According to the Liberia Airport Authority, the decision is backed by a resolution from the Board of Directors of the LAA allowing the Management to make the necessary staffing changes in the interest of sustainable efficiency.

“The decision, which will commence early July, is backed by a resolution from the Board of Directors of the LAA authorizing the Management to retire, reshuffle and rightsize some staff to streamline operations and ensure long-term sustainable efficiency”, the LAA press release is quoted.

The release also added: “LAA Management emphasizes that this decision is not made to witch-hunt but driven by the need to enhance overall institutional effectiveness.”

Highlighting the overview of the exercise, the LAA stated that the restructuring process will involve a carefully planned exercise in compliance with the Decent Works Act of Liberia, the Standing Orders of CSA and other related labor laws of Liberia.

Since the declaration of this plan, many have welcomed the decision and lauded the LAA for taking such decisive step to bring reform within the aviation sector of Liberia.
