As the issue of ownership continue to create serious problems across the country,
Nimba County District #5 Representative, Korto S. Kwagrue, on Thursday, March 13, 2026, submitted to the Plenary of the House an act to amend Article 22, Chapter 4 of the Land Rights Act of 2018.
Kwagrue submitted his communication during the 18th Days Sitting of the First Quarter of the Third Session of the 55th Legislature,
From this backdrop, the House has instructed its joint committee on judiciary, internal affairs, and mines and energy to review an instrument seeking amendment of Article 22, Chapter 04 of the Land Rights Act of 2018.
Rep. Kwagrue in his communication, noted that the proposed amendment aims to strengthen the protection and enforcement mechanisms governing land ownership.
The instrument also seeks to promote equity in land tenure and enhance oversight for the development and protection of private land rights nationwide.
Meanwhile, members of the joint committee are expected to review the proposal and report its findings to plenary during the next siting.
