If goes well with the ongoing exploration of the Putu Mountain, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, will head investors’ discussion.

As such, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has announced that government will adopt a firm approach to managing natural resources.

Boakai said government will not entrust it vested interested to investors, who do not contribute to national development.

During a recent cabinet meeting, Pres. Boakai stated that the administration has tasked the Vice President with overseeing matters related to the Putu Mountain concession.

“We will not hand over our resources to those who cannot help to develop our country. The Vice President will be responsible to manage the Putu Mountain project.”
Putu Mountain, situated in Grand Gedeh County, harbors substantial iron ore deposits, and has long been considered a potential driver of economic growth if developed properly. Pres. Boakai said, government has not yet established a timeline for the future of the Putu project, but announced that initiatives are underway to identify the best course of action.

“We have not set a deadline to resolve the Putu issue, but we will explore our options.”

The President’s comments come amid ongoing national discussions regarding the effective management of mineral resources, and the necessity for investment agreements to yield tangible benefits for the country.
