The special aide to former Senator Jessie Paye, has raised alarm over “death threat on his life.”
George Koomen was a special aide to the late Senator Paye of Montserado County in the 51st Legislature.
He recalled how in recent time; he has received threatening messages from unknown individuals.
The situation, Koomen claimed, has been reported to officers of the Liberia National Police, but the police is yet to make any arrest.
He made the disclosure over the weekend to several dailies.
According to him, he has received ‘death threat’ from unknown men on several occasions.
He said, it all started when the Paye passed away in 2023.
Koomen worked with Sen. Paye up to the time he died.
He alleged that the ongoing threats coupled with high tension stemmed from properties contention (case) at the Civil Law Court between Sen. Paye and other family members, has posed serious threat on him and his wife’s life.
Koomen said, the constant threat messages from some unknown individuals, “who have threatened to attack me and my wife any time.”
Koomen said, those who threatened him and his family, have asked for the court’s documents about the disputed property; which documents are in his possession.
Koomen said, he is not a member of the late Sen. Paye’ s family, but a staff, “because I was honest to Sen. Paye prior to his death. He used to put all his political and social issues in my care.”
He said, several reports of threats were filed to police, but no arrest has been made, and therefore, “I am now seeking safety for my life while I remain in hiding.”
This newspaper contacted authorities of the police, however, an agent who decided to remain anonymous at the CID Division said, the cell has received series of complaints of such a nature, “but I cannot comment on the personal file of a case under investigation unless a court subpoena me.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Koomen has called on state securities to track persons that have threatened to eliminate him and his wife.
