Gbarpolu County Senator Amara Konneh, has publicly accused senior stalwarts of the governing Unity Party (UP)of effectively pushing him out of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s inner circle since the 2023 run-off elections.
Konneh claimed that “UP officials were the ones that pushed him out of Boakai’s inner circle.”
The accusation has parked discussions regarding the internal dynamics of UP and its leadership.
In an interview on OK FM late Tuesday, May 5, Sen. Konneh expressed disillusionment with the current state of affairs within the party.
He claimed that influential senior officials orchestrated his removal from a position of close counsel to Pres. Boakai.
“I no longer maintain the close ties I once had with the President.”
Konneh’s statement suggested a shift in the relationships that once characterized the party’s leadership.
The Unity Party, which has been a prominent political force for decades, currently faces
scrutiny as it navigates the aftermath of the elections.
The party’s internal conflicts appear to be coming to the forefront, with Konneh’s remarks highlighting the potential rifts within its ranks.
With Sen. Konneh’s exit from the inner circle, many have wondered who will emerge as the key players in the party going forward, and how this will affect Pres. Boakai’s administration as far as the digital world was concerned.
