“Koffa Did Not Pay A Dime For CDC Headquarters” – Koijee Refutes Speculations

For several weeks, news has been making rounds across Liberia that embattled Speaker of the 55th Legislature, Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa, is footing the bill for the purchase of the headquarters of the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).  The Secretary General of the party, Jefferson Tamba Koijee, said the claim is far-fetched and misleading. “Speaker Koffa did not spend a dime for the purchase of the CDC headquarters,” he told a news conference in the evening of November 6, 2024 in Monrovia.  According to him, the information is a propaganda intended to construe that the CDC is taking actions against anti-Koffa lawmakers of the CDC because he is paying money to help  buy the party’s headquarters project. “Koffa is not giving us a dime,” SG Koijee stressed. He noted that the CDC is regarded as the most disciplinary institution in the political history of Liberia. “I was suspended. Acarous Moses Gray was also suspended. The former Chairman of the CDC Mulbah K. Morlu was also suspended for different reasons. The CDC does not sell its decision. We are a serious political party that will not condone acts that contravene that party’s constitution. These partisans will remain temporarily suspended until an investigation can establish their innocence or guilt,” he maintained. The CDC Secretary General’s comments in the aftermath of the party’s decision to suspend Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah along with other members of the CDC for violating provisions of the CDC constitution particularly Part II, Chapter I, Rule 5 of the CDC Constitution. Hence, he pointed out that the Party will create no space for such deviant partisans. The Party has therefore decided to, in keeping with Part II, Chapter I, Rule 14  to TEMPORARILY SUSPEND those partisans who are lawmakers being used and request them, in keeping with Part I, Article 15, Section 80 and Part II, Chapter I, Rule 17 & 18 to avail themselves of the National Disciplinary Committee (Grievance and Ethics Committee) for investigation.  Those involved are : Deputy Speaker Thomas P.
