Karfiah Eyes 2029 Senate Race

By Samuel Flomo, Jr.

Former Bong County Electoral District #5 Representative, Edward Karfiah, has declared his intention to contest the 2029 elections as a senatorial candidate.

Karfiah’s early move is expected to be a competitive political season in the county. He previously ran in the 2023 senatorial election, but lost to Johnny Kpehe.

Karfiah said, he remains resolute in his ambition to represent Bong County at the Senate level.

He spoke of his earlier lost, which he said, has not weakened his determination, but instead strengthened his commitment to continue serving the people.

He made the statement during a radio appearance on May 2, 2026, in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Karfiah outlined his plans to re-engage the locals.

He noted that sustained interaction with constituents will be central to his approach as he prepares for the anticipated race.

Karfiah said, his decision to seek the senate’s seat is driven by a deep sense of responsibility, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the development of Bong County.

He reflected on how his tenure was guided by advocacy for improved social services, infrastructure and community empowerment.

Karfiah expressed confidence that voters will once again place their trust in his leadership.

He cited his experience in public service, and understanding of the county’s needs.

Although the 2029 elections are still years away, early political declarations such as Karfiah’s are already sparking conversations among residents and stakeholders in the county.

Observers believe that the race for key positions, including the senate, will attract significant attention and competition.
