Kandakai Public School In Crisis

Kandakai Public School in Yellequlleh District #5, Bong County has been grappled by severe infrastructural and operational challenges.

The challenges have negatively affected teaching and learning, according to the school principal, Frank F. Mulbah.

Mulbah has called for urgent intervention from government authorities, development partners, and humanitarian organizations.

He told In profile daily newspaper in Bong county that the school has for so long struggled from shortage of chairs, broken classroom doors, and leaked roofs.

“These conditions regularly disrupt classes, especially during rainfall, making the learning environment unsafe and uncomfortable for both students and teachers.”

The institution, Mulbah said, currently attends to say 161 students from Kandakai and surrounding communities.

Despite the challenges, academic activities continue, although under “very difficult and discouraged conditions.”

Mr. Mulbah made an appeal to citizens, well-meaning individuals, and development partners to assist the school with zinc sheets, desks, construction materials, and financial support to improve the deteriorating infrastructure.

He also urged the government to urgently place volunteer teachers assigned to the school on the national payroll.

These teachers, he said, have remained committed to their duties despite the hashed unpaid regular salaries.

Kandakai Public School, located in Yellequlleh District #5, serves as one of the key basic education institutions in the area.

Community members have also echoed the principal’s concerns, which he described the school’s condition as alarming and unacceptable.
