Assigned Circuit Court Judge in Rivercess County, A. Blamo Dixon, has waded into “gaps” within the justice system.
Dixon noted: “Conviction at the lower court is not final until reviewed by the Supreme Court.”
He made the statement when he announced the opening of the May Term of the 14th Judicial Circuit Court in Cestos City, Rivercess County.
Dixon warned, that serious lapses in the country’s justice system have left detainees trapped in prolonged imprisonment.
Dixon delivered a firm and opening address in Cestos City.
He told the gathering that many defendants, who plead not guilty, but are later convicted in lower courts, remain behind bars indefinitely, “because their cases are never elevated for appellate review.”
He urged public defenders to take immediate action to effect appeals, and ensure that such cases reach the Supreme Court.

Judicial Circuit Court officially opened Monday, May 11, with a sweeping candid address from Dixon.
He highlighted systemic challenges in the country’s justice sector.
He cautioned court personnel against misconduct, and weigh in on the growing national debate over citizenship laws.
