The James Jenkins (J.J.) Dossen Hospital in Maryland County have received medical supplies valued over US$150K.

The items came from the office of the county district #1 Representative, P. Mike Jurry.

Jurry’s donation fulfilled his promise to support the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper City, Maryland County during a campaign in 2023.

In fulfilment of his campaign promise, Jurry donated a 40-foot medical supply- filled container, and non-medical supplies valued at US$150,000.

This is the second container Rep. Jurry had donated to the heath facility.

Jurry coordinated his donation with his counterparts in Canada to supplement efforts by the Ministry of Health and Partners In Health.

Rep. Jurry expressed gratitude to the hospital’s administration for their collaborative efforts in identifying priority needs and procuring essential supplies.

The medical director, Dr. Shadrach K. Gono, praised the gesture as a significant boost to the hospital’s operations; promising efficient service delivery and increased accessibility for patients.

Items and other supplies included hospital beds, wheelchairs, crutches, syringes, and office tables.

Dr. Gono highlighted the hospital’s challenges, including inadequate medical equipment, infrastructure, and the need for more healthcare givers.

He said, the intervention will bring relief to the facility.

Maryland County Superintendent, Henry B. Cole, also commended Rep. Jurry for his “consistent support.”

Cole urged critics to acknowledge the lawmaker’s efforts.
