Construction work on the three kilometers long iron bridge highway that links Poe with Ducor City is nearing completion.
The project is widely seen as a key trigger for a new wave of development across the corridor.
Once completed, the upgraded highway is expected to transform mobility, and economic activity in the area by improving access between communities, reducing transport delays, and strengthening linkages between markets and service centers.
From a development standpoint, the project is already being viewed as more than just road rehabilitation. It is increasingly being described as an emerging economic axis that could reshape settlement patterns, and open up previously underutilized land for investment and commercial expansion.
Contractors from Dorboh Incorporated, say final works are focused on ensuring long-term road stability, including leveling uneven sections, cutting down steep areas, and constructing supporting drainage and bridge structures to guarantee all-weather durability.
Even before full completion, early indicators of change are visible along the corridor. New housing units, small-scale businesses, and informal commercial activities are gradually increasing, suggesting rising confidence in the economic future.
Residents and local traders say the impact is already being felt in anticipation of the road’s opening.
“Development is starting to shift in this direction. People are investing because they can already see the future,” a trader noted.
Development analysts argue that the iron bridge on the stretch has the potential to evolve into a sustained growth corridor if supported by continued investment in feeder roads, market infrastructure and basic public services.
As the highway nears completion, expectations remain high that it will reduce isolation, improve access to opportunities, and accelerate local economic transformation.
