The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in River Gee County has made a significant bust, arresting two women, Asha Bangoria, 41, and Mamie David, 50, for allegedly trafficking a large stash of marijuana.
The arrest took place Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Gbeapo Kanweaken City, during a plain-view operation with community sources.
Asha Bangoria, a Sierra Leonean national, was caught with 60 compressed plates of marijuana hidden in two large cartons, with an estimated street value of US$6,000 (approximately LRD$1,080,000). Mamie David, a Liberian national, was also taken into custody, believed to be an accomplice.
According to River Gee County LDEA Commander, Bill Cooper, Bangoria had been under surveillance for months and is a notorious drug dealer in the area.
The LDEA is investigating the suspects and will charge them under Liberian law. Residents are praising the LDEA for their efforts, calling it a major crackdown on drug trafficking.
