In River Gee:

343 Senior Students To Write WASSCE

About 343 senior secondary students from seven accredited high schools in River Gee County have been prepared to write this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) starting early June.

Data from schools shows the candidates come from six of the three educational districts: Webo, Potupo, and Gbeapo.

The participating schools include four public, two private, and one faith-based institution: Webo High, Tweh Jaiklay High, Fish-Town Community Junior and Senior High, Gbeapo Multilateral High, Reverend Henry T. Keah High, United Methodist High and Kelvin Sorem High.

Gbeapo Multilateral High School recorded the highest number with 119 candidates, followed by Tweh Jaiklay High School with 93.

Other schools registered are: Fish-Town Community Junior and Senior High, 42, Kelvin Sorem High, 34, United Methodist High, 23, Reverend Henry T. Keah High, 17, and Webo High School, 15.

Gender breakdown for the candidates is still being compiled, as only a few schools have submitted detailed figures.

Education stakeholders say, this year’s enrollment marks a significant increase as compared to 2025.

The increment reflected growing interest and progress in secondary education in the county.

The 2026 WASSCE will officially begin on June 1, under the supervision of the Monrovia office of the West African Examination Council.
