Latest report that emerged from Sanniquellie, Nimba County, confirmed the arrest of 27 individuals.
The report also detailed how Police Commander assigned Ganta, the county’s commercial hub, Christopher Mansuo, is being questioned for “releasing a detained criminal implicated in fraudulent of US$19,845.”
Nimba TV News gathered that Commander Mansuo has been placed on “Stand Down” over the allegation that he released a businessman detained for “defaulting” his client of US$19,845.
It was alleged that Christopher Peter, was arrested in January in connection with a complaint filed by businessman Sylvester Senneh.
Senneh complained that Suspect Peter had refused to repay his money for goods he received from him to sell and repay.
In the wake of the confusion, police subsequently arrested Peter, “but Mansuo single-handily released the suspect overnight.”

As for the protestors, their arrest came in the aftermath of two days violent demonstration, which halted Afcons’ operations.
The ‘protesters’ are being identified as employees of Afcons, a subcontractor company to ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML), based in the old mining town of Yekepa.
The employees or Afcons’ contractors, have reportedly demanded for “improved benefits and working conditions.”
Authorities say the demonstration escalated into confrontations that “injured eight police officers with various degrees.”
The injured officers have reportedly been treated at various clinics.
The 27 protesters remain in police custody as investigations continue.
