Orange Liberia in collaboration with Plastic Liberia on Thursday, June 5, 2025, joined the world over in programs marking the observance of the World Environmental Day.
The day was patent with a call to preserve the planet by transforming wasteful materials into finished products.
It was celebrated under the global theme: “Ending Plastic Pollution, and Orange owned theme: “From Pollution to Orange Solution,” witnessed the presentation of sweeping brooms made from plastic bottles to the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC) as part of her working tools.
At the program held in Paynesville, outside Monrovia, Orange Liberia Director for Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Cllr. Supu H.W. Cole, Sr. said, the sole purpose of Orange Liberia engagement into transforming plastic wastes into finished products, is to help save the planet as well as serve humanity.

According to him, everyone is aware that climate change is a reality, as such, they should always keep their environment clean and green.
Cole said, Orange Liberia is currently collaborating with Plastic Liberia Inc. in making an impact in the various communities and the society at large through the recycling of plastic wastes initiative; something he described as being “highly commendable.”
“This day is being observe globally, and having such an event wherein we invite the young students to learn how to keep their environment clean and safe, is the only way we all can develop our society by teaching the younger ones how we can grow as a healthy people and in a clean society,” he said.
Mr. Cole continues: “I want to congratulate Plastic Liberia, our students and all invited guests, including Orange Foundation for engaging into the recycling of plastic, knowing fully well that the wastes are very difficult to decade, if not impossible.
“If you cannot destroy any waste materials, you can use the same materials to produce another thing,” he said.
Cole also described Orange Liberia and Plastic Liberia as being so innovative, and knowing fully well that plastic don’t decade easily, the both institutions decided to partner in transforming the wastes into something useful.
He said, instead of the plastic being harmful to our environment, it has become productive and usable in solving “our problems.”
He expressed the to continue the collaboration of the engagement, adding: “this exercise will not be the end, because, we will always have these gathering to make our country a better place to live,” Mr. Cole told the gathering.
Plastic Liberia CEO, Teah B. Wolloh, Sr. said as Liberia joined the world in observing the World Environmental Day, they have reaffirmed their collective responsibility to protect the planet.
Mr. Wolloh said, the day is not just the moment of reflection, but a call to action; an opportunity to strengthen the country’s share commitment to environmental sustainability and inspired meaningful change.
Mr. Wolloh: “At Plastic Liberia, we believe that dealing with plastic waste and promoting a cleaner environment required innovation, collaboration and dedication. That is while we are proud to partner with Orange Liberia, a partner committed to driving positive environmental change through technology and corporate social responsibility.”
“Our partnership is built on a share vision for greener Liberia where businesses, communities and individuals can work hand in hand to preserve our natural resources,” he said.
“Together, we have embarked on an innovation that cleans countries and allocates for responsible waste management and promote tree planting efforts,” Wolloh said to the delight of the audience, among them some high profiled officials.
The changes, he said, “required all of us to work in harmony and preserved our environment.”
“Through joint efforts, we have seen the power of unity in action,” he said.
According to Wolloh, Orange Liberia commitment to corporate social responsibility aligns with Plastic Liberia owned vision to reduce plastic pollution and foster environmental awareness by integrating sustainable practices into the way we work.
In separate remarks, Orange Foundation, and Orange Digital Center Senior Managers, Uomah Brown-Witherspoon, and Zaza Mulbah, spoke of the difficulty in starting anything afresh.
“It is difficulty when you introduced new things, because those who don’t know the idea will resist it, but you have to persist.”
“As we gather here today, we want to focus our attention on the global significant of World Environmental Day, which is observed annually on June 5th.
This day is a powerful reminder of our share responsibility to protect and preserve our planet.”
Each year, World Environmental Day servers as a vital platform to raise awareness, inspired actions and address the pressing environmental challenges faced our world.
What solution is Orange Liberia bringing to the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC) is the plastic broom initiative, which comes the recycling plastic bottles into finished products by producing brooms.
“We are recycling a waste into something usable and that is our goal.”
Officials from the PCC commended Orange Liberia and Plastic Liberia for the initiative. They promised to use the brooms for it intended purpose.
The program was climaxed with acts presentation from students from JESCOR, Ann Sandell Academy, Evangelical Christian Academy, Light Stream Academy and SDA.
