Healthcare delivery in Grand Kru County received a significant boost on Thursday following the presentation of a large consignment of medical supplies donated by Grand Kru County Senator Numene T. H. Bartekwa to the County Health Team.
The medical supplies, officially handed over through the Senator’s home office, were delivered at the Grand Kru County Health Team compound in Barclayville in the presence of county health authorities and representatives of the Senator’s office. The presentation was made by Edwin Teahboso Kajlah on behalf of the Senator.
According to officials, the donation includes a 40-foot container filled with assorted medical supplies, comprising essential equipment, consumables, and materials intended to strengthen healthcare services across hospitals, clinics, and health centers in the county.
Speaking during the handover, Kajlah said the donation reflects Senator Bartekwa’s continued commitment to supporting the health sector. “Healthcare is a fundamental human right, and no citizen—regardless of location or economic status—should be denied access to essential medical services,” he said.
He further noted that “sustainable development cannot be achieved without a healthy population,” adding that “investment in healthcare is an investment in the future of Grand Kru County.”
County health officials welcomed the donation, describing it as “timely, strategic, and life-saving,” especially at a time when health facilities continue to face logistical and supply challenges.
One health administrator stated that “this intervention will significantly improve service delivery and help reduce critical medical shortages across health facilities in the county.”
Officials disclosed that the supplies will be distributed strategically to ensure equitable access across the county, with priority given to health facilities serving high-need and hard-to-reach communities.
The donation is expected to enhance patient care, improve response capacity at health facilities, and complement government efforts aimed at strengthening the healthcare system in Grand Kru County.
