Bobbyson Bobby Charged

By Emmanuel Koffa

Authorities of the Liberia National Police have formally charged 26-year-old power saw operator Bobbyson Bobby with murder.

Bobby is charged for his alleged involvement in the death of Rose Tarty, a 34-year-old woman whose body was found concealed in the Chengbetee Forest in Dorbor Statutory District, Grand Kru County.

Police say the victim was reported missing on December 15, 2025, prompting growing concern within the Chengbetee Community.

The report was made to authorities by Patrolman Prince J. Zarweah, Commander of Bolor District, after residents alerted police that the woman had not returned from the forest for several days since she went “missing.”

A community-led search, supported by police, was immediately launched.

Within hours, the search took a grim turn when the woman’s lifeless body was discovered lying face-up in the forest.

She was found wearing a black bra and brown sleeveless blouse, while a wooden-handle knife was seen near the scene. Medical practitioner T. Tokpa Simmon, later confirmed her death.

Investigators say evidence gathered at the scene, coupled with witness information, led them to Bobbyson Bobby, who allegedly fled Grand Kru County shortly after the incident.

He was subsequently arrested in Nimba County, and returned under police escort to face questioning. During interrogation, police say the accused admitted involvement in the incident, recounting that he encountered the victim in the forest while heading to his pit sawing worksite.

Police further stated that the accused claimed he asked the victim for L$100 to buy liquor, but she refused. He alleged that a struggle followed when he attempted to take the money, causing the victim to fall, bleed from her nose, and lose consciousness. Authorities say the accused confessed that, fearing arrest, he dragged the woman’s body from the roadside into the forest and hid it, before fleeing the county.

Based on the confession and physical evidence, police have charged Bobby with murder and forwarded him to court.

They confirmed that investigations are complete and the case is now under judicial review.
