In False Allegation Case:

The Barclayville Magisterial Court has issued a directive ordering Sansum Wiah to publicly retract and apologize for allegations the Court ruled to be false, following proceedings held in Barclayville, Grand Kru County.

CASE BACKGROUND The matter arose after Wiah accused Journalist Emmanuel S. Koffa of informing him that Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa had allegedly offered a “Brown Envelope” to influence an ongoing court matter involving his (Wiah’s) girlfriend.

The allegation, which suggested possible judicial compromise, prompted immediate legal attention.

COURT PROCEEDINGS AND ADMISSION

During proceedings on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Wiah appeared before the court and reportedly admitted that the allegation he made was false.

Following the admission, the prosecution requested a conference set for 9:00 a.m. the following day, resulting in the postponement of the substantive hearing.

COURT DIRECTIVE

The court initially ordered the arrest of Wiah during proceedings.

However, after his admission and plea for leniency through the County Attorney, the court issued corrective sanctions instead of immediate detention.

The Court ordered Mr. Wiah to:

Submit a written apology to Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa

Issue a formal apology to the Barclayville Magisterial Court

Publicly apologize to citizens of Grand Kru County

Complete compliance within four (4) days

The court warned that failure to comply may result in imprisonment and reaffirmed its authority to enforce its orders.

COURT STANCE

The court reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and the protection of the integrity of the legal system, stressing that unverified allegations capable of undermining public confidence will not be tolerated.

The matter remains active, with Wiah expected to comply fully with the court’s directive within the stipulated timeframe as legal observers continue to monitor developments.
