The Supreme Court of Liberia has ruled in favor of residents of the Catholic Community in the land dispute case prompted by Mr. Stanton V. Gaye, of which homes were demolished on lower court order prayed for by Mr. Gaye against residents of the community. His Honor Associate Justice Yussif D. Kabba ruled in favor of the Catholic Community on August 30, 2024 at the Supreme Court. However, Defendant Stanton Gaye and his lawyer Cllr. Jonathon Massaquoi didn’t appear for the ruling. Community members who felt that their right to ownership of the disputed land was violated, said Defendant Gaye went to the lowest court and attached his own ‘criminal’ communication to the ruling on March 30, April 3 and 13, 2024, to claim more than one hundred and fifteen (115) homes that comprise more than five to six thousand residents. Initially, Defendant Gaye reportedly used the Kaben’h Janeh Law Firm on Airfield Shortcut around Vomama House, where the Catholic Community residents were invited to go and do business with the defendant, charging residents huge sums for their properties. “House that was not valued for six thousand they were charging residents thirty thousand but the community is grateful to His Honor Associates Justice Yussif D. Kabba for ruling in our favor,” some residents noted. The residents also lauded the Wright Associates Law Firm on MacDonald Street for representing them during the case against Defendant Gaye.
