The House of Representatives Joint Concessions Review Committee has summoned the Senior Management Team of Bea Mountain Company to appear under contempt charges for impeding legislative functions.
During a hearing on Friday, March 28, 2025, Committee Chair Foday Fahnbulleh stated that Bea Mountain was instructed to provide specific information regarding its operations within the concession area but has refused to do so, which according to him, is impending the functions of the committee.
He emphasized that the joint committee which was mandated to review all concessions across the country is committed to thoroughly reviewing all commitments made by the Bea Mountain Company to ensure the people’s just benefit from their resources.
Rep. Fahnbulleh further noted that Bea Mountain Management team which was not probably represented, earlier on also requested a postponement of the scheduled legislative hearing from Friday, March 28, 2025, to the first week of May 2025.
With the request made by Bea Mountain Management, however, the committee saw refusal and the request as an affront and further denied their request subsequently through a motion filed to summon the senior management for contempt by the Co-chair of the committee, Margibi County District#2 Lawmakers, Ivar Jones.
Rep. Jones’ action followed a conflicting statement by the company’s Executive Director regarding the absence of both the General Manager and Country Manager who according to him were out of the country.
Meanwhile, the public hearing for Bea Mountain Senior Management is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2025, at 10:00am in the House first floor conference room.
Moreover, the Friday’s hearing was witnessed by LRA, LEITI, Mines and Energy and the National Bureau of Concession (NBC).
