The House of Representatives has officially adjourned it’s third quarter of the second session.
This means, the lawmakers have taken their annual constituency break.
The decision is in accordance with Article 40 of the 1986 Constitution, which grants lawmakers the opportunity to recess from regular legislative duties.
The adjournment took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, during the 17th Day sitting of the 3rd Quarter of the 2nd Session.
In his closing statement, House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, disclosed that out of the 70 bills introduced during the period under review, 48 were passed, while 11 originated from the Executive Branch; senate concurred with 22 and 15 were House-originated bills.
Koon meanwhile, expressed satisfaction over the productivity of the Legislative Session, noting that the House remained committed to its three cardinal responsibilities.
The responsibilities are: lawmaking, oversight, and representation.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to his colleagues for their cooperation, dedication, and collaborative spirit throughout the session.
Koon also praised the cordial working relationship between the House, and the other branches of government, commending President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, members of the Executive Branch, and the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the
Supreme Court, along with the entire judiciary.
According to a release, Koon expressed optimism that “this harmonious partnership will continue upon their return.”
The lawmakers are expected to resume legislative functions January 12, (2nd working Monday), 2026.
