HETHFOI -LIBERIA Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

 

The Help the Helpless Foundation International (HETHFOI)-LIBERIA celebrated its second anniversary on August 24, 2024. Chief Executive Officer Yohyah Salwah said the organization is seeking the welfare of ordinary citizens in the agriculture, education and health sectors in Liberia. Salwah stated that the need to empower marginalized Liberians cannot be over emphasized. He asserted that central government as well as the international community should help to support local organization to narrow the gap of poverty among the people. He noted that it is now time to do away with the provision of lip service,and start using the rightful medium through which the needy within Liberia can be reached, particularly, women and children. Mr. Salwah asserted that it was about time that government and its international partners provide attention to suffering masses through the support of agricultural and educational programs to alleviate their current condition.  He indicated that HETHFOI is a local NGO registered with the Liberia Business Registry. He pointed out that the organization is engaged with transformative development to help vulnerable people, particularly women and children. He said the Foundation has communicated with major state actors including some government officials and line ministries, major embassies accredited near Monrovia as well as  international development partners such as the UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, FAO among others, regarding the urgent need of changing the living conditions of the Liberian people, by rescuing them from starvation and illiteracy.  He appealed for assistance either in cash or kind like agricultural tools such as power saws, cassava processing machines, wheelbarrows and shovels, cutlasses, transportation, laptops, educational materials as well as copybooks, book bags, ink pens and pencils, textbooks and food items for students including helpless women and children. According to him, Foundation is operating in Montserrado, Grand Bassa and River Cess Counties with two of the pillars, agriculture and the micro finance components for the sole purpose of empowering the people  to be self-sufficient and sustainable. Salwah explained that currently, the Foundation is operating two separate farms in River Cess County, dealing with food crops such as cassava, plantain and pumpkin,  He revealed that HETHFOI -LIBERIA has recruited more than 40 Liberians from various backgrounds that are voluntarily working with the foundation for the improvement of the living conditions of the people.
